Welcome to
Horticultural Crop Breeding
Established 2025
The Horticultural Crop Breeding team at Texas A&M University is part of the Department of Horticultural Sciences.
Who do we breed for?
Our breeding team aims to ensure horticultural crop environmental resilience, sustainable productivity, and rugged resistance to biotic challenges.
Breeding efforts are geared towards developing regionally adapted cultivars through integration of whole plant and whole genome approaches to identify high quality plants that perform in challenging production environments.
Breeding is conducted with the goal of quickly delivering high quality cultivars to growers.
What do we breed?
The Horticultural Crop Breeding team is founded with a focus on grapevines (Vitis and Muscadinia) and other traditional horticultural crops.
Traits, crops, and methodologies will adapt to meet grower demands.
Stay tuned.
